Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement

Last update: 12 January 2026

Dignity Nursing Journal (DNJ) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity. The journal follows international guidelines from ICMJE and COPE.

All stakeholders including editors, reviewers, authors, and publishers are expected to adhere to ethical practices at every stage of the publication process.

Roles of Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief (EiC) has full responsibility for the editorial content and publication decisions of the journal. The EiC ensures that all manuscripts are evaluated fairly, based on academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal scope.

The EiC supervises the peer-review process, assigns editors and reviewers, and ensures that ethical standards are upheld throughout the editorial workflow.

The EiC must avoid conflicts of interest and ensure that decisions are free from discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, religion, or institutional affiliation.

AI Policy: Manuscripts must be treated as confidential documents and must not be uploaded into generative AI tools.
Editorial Board Responsibilities
Editorial Board Members support the EiC in managing submissions, selecting qualified reviewers, and making recommendations based on peer-review reports.

They are responsible for maintaining objectivity, confidentiality, and academic integrity in evaluating manuscripts.

Editors must not use unpublished materials for personal research and must disclose any conflicts of interest.
Publication Ethics
DNJ enforces strict ethical standards to prevent misconduct such as plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and duplicate publication.

All submissions are screened and evaluated to ensure compliance with ethical guidelines.

In cases of suspected misconduct, the journal follows COPE procedures, including investigation, correction, or retraction if necessary.
Reviewers' Responsibilities
Reviewers play a critical role in ensuring the quality of published research. They must evaluate manuscripts objectively, provide constructive feedback, and assist editors in decision-making.

Reviewers must maintain confidentiality and should not disclose or use unpublished data.

They must decline review requests if conflicts of interest exist.

AI Policy: Manuscripts must not be uploaded into AI tools.
Authors' Duties
Authors must submit original work and properly cite all sources. Plagiarism and redundant publication are strictly prohibited.

Authors must ensure that their research complies with ethical standards involving human or animal subjects, including informed consent and ethical approval.

All authors must significantly contribute to the research and approve the final manuscript.

Conflicts of interest and funding sources must be disclosed.

AI Disclosure: Any use of AI tools in writing must be transparently declared in the manuscript.
Duties of Publisher
The publisher is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the academic record and supporting editors in handling ethical issues.

In cases of misconduct, the publisher will collaborate with editors to investigate and take appropriate action, including corrections or retractions.

The publisher ensures long-term digital preservation and accessibility of all published content.
All parties involved in publishing must commit to ethical standards and transparency in scholarly communication.
